A Series on Scams

Posted on Feb 8, 2007 by

Scams come in all shapes and sizes and are a lot of times used to commit identity theft. I want to alert the public to some very creative scams in hopes that individuals will recognize a scam for what it is when they see one.

I blogged recently about the Gerber Class Action Lawsuit scam that supplied identity thieves with estimates of over a million children’s identities to steal. I also blogged about Nigerian advance fee scams and their new target of Bed and Breakfast businesses.

These scams can take many forms, so if you understand the basics of them, you can spot them a mile away. I am very interested in the scams that are out there and I’ll alert you to them whenever I find a good one. I invite you to give feedback – to warn others or to ask questions. I’d like to hear from you.
