Beware of ATM Scams
Posted on Apr 10, 2007 by Michelle Pastor
Some identity thieves will stand extremely close to you while you’re using your ATM card and watch as you put in your pin. If you become distracted after your PIN is entered and your ATM card is still in the ATM machine, be very careful. Identity thieves can work in pairs to purposely distract you just as the machine spits out your card. Before you have a chance to grab your card, one of the thieves may ask you for help or fake a fall while the other switches your ATM card with a fake one. You leave and they now have your card and your PIN number.
If anything at all happens out of the ordinary while you’re using your ATM card, be very suspicious and overly cautious.
