Free credit monitoring for everyone?
Posted on Jul 13, 2006 by Tom Fragala
Robert Gellman says “everyone should receive free credit monitoring.” Good news: Truston is already going to offer a free service that we think is better. So there is no need to spill blood to get the credit bureaus to comply with his idea (but I applaud his moxie). Truston’s free credit inspecting service, MyTruston, will be truly free with no catch. Wait, how is it better?
- Privacy. With credit monitoring, you give up your privacy and take a risk: you have to send your sensitive personal information to a third party. With MyTruston you don’t give us your sensitive personal data—lots of people tell us they prefer that.
- Information. MyTruston empowers people to see detailed credit file information and help you understand it. Traditional credit monitoring provides you a vague message.
- Free. Our credit inspecting is and will be entirely free. No hidden charges or privacy loopholes and no credit card is required. Today, credit monitoring costs as much as $150 a year.
- Recordkeeping. MyTruston automatically maintains a log of everything you've done with regards to credit inspecting or ID theft recovery, which can be very valuable.
