Reduce Your ID Theft Risk by Opting Out

Posted on Mar 8, 2007 by Michelle Pastor

If you haven't yet, opt-out of receiving credit card offers by calling 1-888-5-optout (1-888-567-8688).  Every piece of mail with your name and address gives an ID thief a chance to target you and when that piece of mail has a promotional credit offer attached—well, that's just asking for trouble.  When you opt out, it will take a few weeks, but your credit-related 'junk' mail will stop.

You can also opt out online at www.optoutprescreen.com. This is the ONLY approved web site for doing so.
