U of Michigan Credit Union Data Breach Leads Identity Theft

In the case of the University of Michigan Credit Union, where the breach occurred last summer, such compromise of personal information has been confirmed to have led to cases of identity theft. In fact, there are almost 100 cases where the crook opened up credit card accounts in the victims' names. Although the data theft did occur last summer, it was not discovered until last March when Police raided a house in Detroit and discovered loan records and applications of the credit union.
