Posted on Jan 2, 2007 by Tom Fragala
On May 10, 2006 President Bush signed an Executive Order creating the nation's first ever Identity Theft Task Force. The goals of the Task Force are to develop a strategic plan to better prevent identity theft, coordinate prosecution, and ensure recovery for victims. The Task Force is chaired by U.S. Attorney General Alberto R.Gonzales and Federal Trade Commission Chairman Deborah Platt Majoras. The task force issued a press release on December 26, 2006 saying it is seeking public comment on ways to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of federal government efforts to reduce identity theft.
