Medical Facilities are Cracking Down

More and more hospitals and medical facilities are requiring photo identification when they check patients in.  Medical identity theft is growing and the results are serious.  Read more about what it is and its consequences in a past medical id theft blog of mine.

One medical facility is determined to protect its patients from becoming identity theft victims and has changed its check-in procedures to include checking the patient’s identitification.  According to the news story,

"We're also protecting the insurance carriers and the state from two individuals using benefits from one insurance policy," Beal said. "Someone's paying that shouldn't be paying. In the long term, it costs everybody."
