More on Medical ID Theft

Posted on Apr 23, 2007 by

In a past I’ve blogged about medical identity theft and how it can become a very serious form of fraud if the thief using your medical insurance is treated for a serious health condition.  Not only can the you be turned down for life insurance unnecessarily, but it can cause serious problems with medical care as medical records are merged.

Roger Whitacre, a certified identity risk management specialist, summed it up very well in an article titled “Identity theft only going to get worse” in the Cumberland Times News when he said:

"Once you're medical identity is stolen, you'll wish they stole your money," he said.

It's "virtually impossible," he said, to have a medical condition that you don't have removed from your record.
