Look Before You Leap

Before you get married, be sure to have your future partner share their credit report with you. Too often I work with couples that didn’t know what they were getting into until it was too late. Finances are one of the leading causes of divorce, so if you find any surprises on the credit report, make sure you have a plan to set things straight.
An article in the LA Times warns engaged couples
that if you get married, your spouse's bad credit can harm your ability to buy a house or get a low-cost credit card or auto loan. You also may be held jointly liable for debts.
