Mystery Shopping Scam

Posted on Jul 12, 2007 by

I’ve blogged before about the scams that surround mystery shopping, so I’ll pass on yet another related scam.

According to this news story, here’s how this scam works:

It starts with a letter telling people they've been selected as a mystery shopper and includes a check for $4,800 to cover the costs. The instructions tell you where to shop and fill out customer service forms. The instructions also tell you to go to Western Union and transfer $2,600 to an account in Canada.

The $4,800 check is counterfeit.
