Credit bureau TransUnion Opens the Kimono

Posted on Dec 13, 2006 by Tom Fragala

TransUnion, one of the three major consumer credit reporting companies, has been quite secretive in the past. Their website was sparse and impersonal. Now it appears they are turning over a new leaf. Their website has a new look and they even have articles from executives, executive photos, a hugely expanded newsroom, and a company history.

What gives? My guess is that the privately-held company is prettying up with an eye towards going public in 2007 or 2008. You heard it hear first.

TU was owned since 1981 by the Marmon Group, a quiet but massive $6 billion conglomerate (they call it an “association”) with close ties to the Chicago Pritzker family (Thomas J. Pritzker is Chairman). But in 2005, Marmon Group spun out TU as an independent entity. Penny Pritzker is Chairman of Trans Union.

Here is a list of TransUnion’s executives:

Harry Gambill: President/Chief Executive Officer
John Blenke: Corporate General Counsel
David Emery: Chief Operating Officer
Jeff Hellinga: President, U.S. Information Services
Peter Hoversten: Chief Information Officer - U.S. Information Services
Mary Krupka: Executive VP, Human Resources
Len Lombardo: Chief Information Officer - Enterprise
Mike Dealy: Interim President, Real Estate Services
Mark Marinko: Executive VP, Consumer Solutions
Scott Schubert: Chief Financial Officer
Ralph Sorice: President, International
Colleen Tunney: VP, Corporate Affairs
Jan Temple: Executive VP, Marketing
