iJacking?? Intersections Creates a New Word

Posted on Jun 11, 2006 by Tom Fragala

Intersections, Inc., the NASDAQ-listed company behind the IdentityGuard products, has a new marketing campaign. It’s called “stop ijacking” and you can see for yourself at www.stopijacking.com. Apparently the goal of the campaign is to create a new term they “own” so they can be the only company that offers a solution to “iJacking.” I thought identity theft, though far from a perfect term, had become the de facto terminology to use. ID theft has become a bit of a catch-all phrase, which is fine, as long as we all sort of know what it is. Any thoughts on this “iJacking” thing? Post them in the comments.
