Do You Think Caller ID Always Blocks Your Number?
Posted on Jun 16, 2007 by Tom Fragala
Think again. It’s laughably easy to get your phone number if you have outgoing Caller ID blocked. I’m not talking about tricks, taps or illegal means.
Toll-free number (800, 877, 866, 888) subscribers with Automatic Number Identification (ANI) included can capture and display the telephone numbers of calling parties. Regardless of whether there is Caller ID blocking or not. They can also determine if you are calling from a regular phone line, a cell phone, a prison, or a public coin-operated phone. It’s not new—ANI has been around since the late 1960s.
Thought you might like to know that. You know, the next time you call that toll free number for a free gift, a sweepstakes entry, a job posting, or whatever.
Sleep tight.

We have a solution to caller ID spoofing...
PDXUSA will soon go public with ANI support.
Not only do we provide ANI, we authenticate it with the carrier who owns the number so for the few out there who can spoof ANI, you'll find yourself running into a brick wall trying to spoof a PDXUSA telecom customer.
Telemarketers and criminals will no longer be able to transmit false caller ID without being detected.

That sounds pretty cool. I would think that many businesses would be interested to prevent their customers from being hit by a fraud ring.
