Privacy tip: AT&T opt-out from marketing
Posted on Feb 12, 2008 by Tom Fragala
Important privacy notice. If you are an AT&T customer (including Cingular Wireless), you may receive a letter like I did that says "ServiceGram" on it. Do not throw it away. It allows you to opt-out from AT&T sharing your customer proprietary network information (CPNI) with the "AT&T family of companies." If you do nothing, you are opted IN to who- knows-what manner and volume of marketing across different companies, affiliates and vendors that are associated with AT&T. To opt-out, at least in my case, I just had to check a box and mail back a small piece of paper in a self-addressed envelope with postage already paid.

I received the opt out notice from AT&T but the link does not work, nor is there a link that I can find on their official web site. Guess I'll have to call them. I'm not alone and have seen messages from others with the same experience.

The post card I received just said to go to this email address and opt out. I am like everyone else; where is the "opt out" option? It is not on this website.

It pissess me off that I called the # to speak to a service rep and after several steps was told to call back during business hours. It pissed me off even more when I went on line to opt out and there was no clear way to do it. What is wrong with you folks?

Norman expressed my same experience. If doing nothing after 33 days, do you have the choice to use the data as you see fit? It is unclear where I stand on this issue.

Same as the afore mentioned. I finally went to the National Do Not Call Registry and listed my phone numbers with them. Hope it works. The thought of trying to get thru to an actual person to register this is hideous.

marketing . you are chittig the customers.

Yup, Got the card. Tried to log in to optout. Could not find a place to connect. Tried the phone numbers. Got the recording. Got told that the phone call back-log would be long; try to opt out online. This business smacks of Big Brother. I am going to write a letter to their office in Georgia and tell them where to put their advertisements.

It is not right to att coustomers to sell our names. Our phone bills are high enough. If i want to buy something I will ask for it,instead of being tormented with junk mail. This is not right.

I had trouble also.
After several tries I di finally talk to Delisa at att. She was a great help
The three numbers that they keep asking for after they ask for your telephone number is the first three numbers after your telephone number on your statement there is seven numbers there use just the first three. Hope this helps someone.

Received post card also. Cannot get on website. Do not want to call and "chat" with a rep. I want to opt out and need someone to let me know how to do online as stated on the postcard received. I do not want to but anything from anyone by solicitation. If I want something I am capable of making my own decision to do so without being bothered!
