Teens Are Key Targets for ID Thieves

Identity thieves go after the identities of teens and young children because they know they have a lot of time before the victim will check his credit - often the thief can use the fraudulent ID for many years before the victim notices. Teens are especially easy prey because they tend to give out their personal information chasing credit card offers and loans. This news article talks about teen ID theft and gives tips for teens to prevent becoming victims.
Experts say social networking sites like MySpace are perfect places for identify thieves to find victims and they warn teenagers may be especially vulnerable because they may not be as careful as they should be about sharing personal information. Some students say they didn't realize that even small bits of information such as their address could trigger I.D. theft.
