Debt Collection Protection for ID Theft Victims

Did you know? The California Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (CA Civil Code section 1788.18) prohibits a debt collector from continuing to collect on a debt of an alleged victim of identity theft if the victim has completed all the tasks required under the section, which includes filing a police report.

That would be a great law to enact for the entire country and not just california seeing as how many people fall victim to identiy theft.

What do you do with your Bankruptcy attorney who collects money from you when in fact your are protected?
