Help Us Complete our Privacy Policy

Posted on Oct 18, 2006 by Tom Fragala

We are launching our myTruston service soon. I can hardly wait to tell you more about it (sneak peeks coming soon.) Part of launching a web service is writing a privacy policy.

It's more work than you think. If you make it too brief or unspecific, people may think you purposely did so to hide some nefarious purpose (I don't blame them). If you are too verbose, then the darn thing is too long and that ticks people off (again, I don't blame them). So, after a lot of work, hopefully we will achieve a happy medium with ours.

I thought I'd put the privacy policy out there for the community (that's YOU) to read and give feedback. Here's it is. Tell me what you think. You can post a comment or send me an email if you prefer (tom AT mytruston DOT com). Every suggestion will be read and considered. After all, you'll be communicating directly with the CEO (that's me).

Your privacy is important to us. At Truston we have a three key privacy principles:

* We don’t ask you for personal information unless we really need it—and we rarely do.
* We don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop our products, or protect our rights.
* Our myTruston service does NOT require sensitive personal information such as social security number, driver’s license number, or financial account numbers.

This is our privacy policy which incorporates these principles.
